The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) has lauded Continental Reinsurance Plc for its substantial donation of N62 million toward establishing an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) facility at the College of Insurance & Financial Management (CIFM).
The commendation was made on Tuesday during a formal cheque presentation held at Continental Re’s office. The event was attended by key industry stakeholders, including the Chairman of CIIN’s Governing Council and Deputy President, Mr. Jide Orimolade, who led the institute’s delegation.
In his remarks, Orimolade described the initiative as a transformative development for Nigeria’s insurance sector. “The value we see in Continental Re is something very close to our hearts. Strengthening the skill set within the insurance industry is crucial, and this support represents a significant step toward achieving that goal,” he said.
Orimolade further noted that establishing the ICT facility would solidify CIFM’s reputation as a hub for producing skilled professionals. “When the industry recognizes the College of Insurance as a source of qualified talent to fill critical roles, it will significantly enhance its reputation. Kudos to Continental Re for its outstanding contributions to capacity development in the sector,” he added.

The Group Managing Director of Continental Reinsurance, Mr. Lawrence Nazare, reiterated the company’s dedication to fostering growth and sustainability in Africa’s insurance industry. He explained that the donation aligns with Continental Re’s broader mission to promote excellence and resilience within the sector.
“Our initiative with CIFM is part of our larger strategy to align training programs with local industry demands, equipping graduates with the necessary skills for success,” Nazare stated. He also highlighted the launch of the Continental Re Academy, which collaborates with institutions like CIFM to enhance capacity-building efforts across the region.
Nazare emphasized the importance of positioning CIFM as a vital source of skilled professionals, adding, “This strategic approach is essential to fostering industry growth, increasing insurance penetration, and building a more resilient continent.”
